This was a working collection built up by George Outram & Co for journalists at The Glasgow Herald, and formed the basis for trade supplements published by George Outram & Co from the 1950s to the 1970s. It comprises press cuttings; press releases; company literature and statistics; and photographs on various aspects of shipbuilding with particular emphasis on the Clyde Shipbuilding industry.

Partnership agreements; memorandum and articles of association; directors’ reports and accounts; correspondence and papers relating to Thor Thoresen Linje; correspondence and papers relating to merger with Powell Duffryn; financial records; steamer regulations; house flag; voyage books; freight books; employment records; photographs; lists of men and ships lost in 1914-1918 and 1939-1945 wars; papers relating to history of company and Robertson family.

Black and white, sepia and colour photographic prints and negatives, including glass negatives; transparencies; postcards; sketches and artists' impressions.

Photographs of people are mainly individual and group photographs of staff and students. Images of machinery and equipment include slides used for teaching purposes, and an early photograph of an Argyll motor car on the ramp in the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory. Photographs of University buildings include Anderson's University, the Mechanics' Institution, the Weaving, Dyeing and Printing College and Allan Glen's School, in addition to the later buildings of the Royal Technical College and the Scottish College of Commerce and the modern buildings of the University. The visit by HM King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, and the laying of the foundation stone of the Royal College Building in 1903 is also represented in the collection. There are also aerial photographs of the campus at various periods of development. Photograph albums preserve the memory of honorary graduations, VIP visits and other events.

Items relating to Beltrami's 15-year battle to overturn the conviction of his client, Patrick Meehan, for the murder of Rachel Ross during a burglary in 1969. Beltrami's efforts secured a unique Royal Pardon for Meehan, plus a substantial compensation payment. The collection includes:

• Incomplete (pages 2-7 only) xerox copy of the Edinburgh High Court indictment against Patrick Connolly Meehan for theft, housebreaking, assault to severe injury, robbery, murder and fraud, 1969;
• Incomplete copy letter from [Joe Beltrami, Beltrami Dunn & Co] to R.B. Laurie, Secretary, the Law Society of Scotland, Edinburgh, 5 April 1976, seeking an opinion on matters of confidentiality concerning the precognitions of the widow, son and daughter of William McGuiness;
• Copy letter from [Joe Beltrami, Beltrami Dunn & Co] to the Crown Agent, Crown Office, Edinburgh, 16 September 1976, concerning the Crown's delay in pronouncing the innocence of Meehan's co-suspect in the murder of Rachel Ross, James Griffiths (Griffiths was shot dead by a police marksman in 1969);
• Xerox copy of the recommendation by D[avid] A.O. Edward Q.C., Edinburgh, that Patrick Meehan should be offered the sum of £47,915 in compensation, 22 December 1983, with annotations by Beltrami;
• Xerox copy of the cheque for £47,915 issued to Patrick Meehan by H.M. Paymaster General on 8 February 1984, with annotations by Beltrami;

Digital images of 15th Kilbrandon Lecture, 23 November 2017, at University of Strathclyde, delivered by Rt. Hon. Nicola Sturgeon, MSP, First Minister of Scotland. The lecture was opened by Professor Sir Jim McDonald, Vice Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde, chaired by Professor Jennifer Davidson, Executive Director of the Institute for Inspiring Children’s Futures, and the vote of thanks and closing remarks were given by Fiona Duncan, Chair, Care Review for Scotland. The images were taken by Guy Hinks, photographer.

The Kilbrandon Lecture is an annual lecture to commemorate the contribution to public life and the Scottish legal system of Charles Shaw, Lord Kilbrandon.
