History
The Women's Club was established in 1964. It existed to enable wives and women members of the academic and senior administrative staff to meet and take part in activities of common interest. Events included talks, visits and social events. Groups were set up in different localities to help wives meet socially and to welcome newcomers to the district. The Club also undertook some social work with elderly people around the University.
