The notebooks cover various subjects including mathematics, heat engines and natural philosophy. Many of the notebooks contain photographs, graphs and diagrams. There is also a copy of the thesis presented by Porkess for the Associateship of the Royal Technical College, August 1952. Also a bundle of notes, mainly examination questions and algebra, c. 1950s.
