Unlike the earlier Q-files series, includes also enquiries from students in health & safety-related fields, concerned members of the public in general (and so forth). Prior to c.2000, these had been handled in a separate series, listed unter OEDA/C/1/4.

Correspondence (including telephone memoranda) and papers chiefly re funding for Mavis Robinson’s Mesothelioma Patient Information Project, Leeds, initially funded by Macmillan Cancer Relief. Also papers re the founding of the British Mesothelioma Interest Group in 2001.

Includes charity leaflets and articles, newsletters concerning conferences, trials, etc..

Mavis Robinson was a nurse who set up the first dedicated mesothelioma helpline. In 2001 she was awarded an MBE for her seminal work assisting UK asbestos victims and their carers.

Correspondence with Kerry Dukes, including correspondence re the OEDA Northamptonshire Support Group, 1996-c.2000, and re Ms Dukes subsequent activities.

Includes table of Northants cases with contact information, OEDA case number etc.

Kerry Dukes is the daughter of Wayne Dukes, who died of an asbestos-related disease in October 1996. She set up the OEDA Northants support group in 1996 and joined the OEDA Management Committee in 1999.

Letter to Nigel Spearing with Christopher Booker copied in, furnishing scientific evidence that Booker is wrong to downplay the danger of white asbestos. This is Nancy Tait's reponse to Booker's articles on 'The great asbestos scam', Sunday Telegraph 6 August 2006 and 15 October 2006.

Also includes earlier letter to Booker (1998) and photocopy of Hansard report of parliamentary debate on ‘methods of monitoring asbestos and progress made in developing alternatives’, 1981.

Correspondence with experts and journalists, July-August 2006, re Y Suzuki & S R Yuen (2001) ‘Asbestos tissue burden study on human malignant mesothelioma’. Nancy Tait attempted to establish why the study appeared to have been ignored by asbestos ban advocates. The background were news reports in the summer of 2006, responding to the Labour government's U-turn on its controversial scheme to force home sellers to produce home information packs (HIPs).

A successor to previous student publications, the Ross Hall Times and the Spatule, the Scottish Hotel School Students' Journal was established in 1961 and renamed the Strathclyde Hotelier in 1965. It was produced by the students as a year book of the Scottish Hotel School, but was also used by them as a means of contacting former students and of helping to get themselves recognised within the hotel and tourism industry.
