History
The Department of Architecture and Building Science originated with the establishment of a Department of Architecture and Building in 1895 at the Glasgow and West of Scotland Technical College (antecedent of the University of Strathclyde). In 1904, the department was linked with the Glasgow School of Art's Department of Architecture to form the Glasgow School of Architecture. This arrangement continued until the establishment of the University of Strathclyde in 1964, at which time the relationship was dissolved and a Department of Architecture and Building Science and a Department of Urban Planning were formed within the University.
