Alana Nottman completed placements as a trainee nursery nurse at St. Helen's children's home, Edinburgh from 1968 until 1969 and later at St. Catherine's children's home, Edinburgh. Alana discusses the work structure, the environments she worked in, her interest in childcare and development, comparisons of the two placements, corporal punishment and developments in residential care.
