Mae McQueen worked as an assistant house parent in Kilmarnock in 1974 until 1976 before going on to study for a certificate in Residential Care of Children and Young People at Langside College. Mae discusses working in a family group home, the structure of the home, lack of training, reasons for young people coming into care and thoughts on improvements that could be made in the sector.
