Biographical history

Robert Buchan Maule was born on 6 September 1901. He was an evening student at the Royal Technical College of Glasgow (RTC) from session 1917-1918 to session 1921-1922. The student registers record his occupation as 'Turner', and latterly as 'Engineer'. At this time, he was living in the family home at 87 Ardgowan Street, Glasgow. His older brother, James, a chemist, also took evening classes at the RTC in sessions 1919-1920 and 1920-1921.
