Russ Paterson worked in the merchant navy before working as an assistant warden at an intermediate treatment centre in Turnberry, Ayrshire from 1972 until 1974. Russ discusses the environment he worked in, his role, colleagues, the type of children that participated in the course, dealing with challenging behaviour, lack of support, his motivation for working with children, going on to work for Quarriers and developments in residential care.
