The Evergreen and Messrs. Patrick Geddes and Colleagues

In 1894, the company Patrick Geddes and Colleagues was formed as a publishing venture. One of its first publications was 'The Evergreen', which appeared in 1895-1896 [for copies, see GB 249 T-GED 24/357]. The papers relate to its publication. A number of poems and articles also survive in pre-publication form.

Barony MS Magazines

Manuscript magazines issued under the auspices of the Barony Mutual Improvement Society, later the Barony Young Men's Association. Subjects include religion, local history, natural history, travel, natural philosophy, mechanics. The editors were Thomas Martin, Archibald Campbell, John Goldie, Edward Railton Catterns, George Smeaton Rodger, W. Ferrie Anderson and James Meek. The contributions were bound on the premises of Robert Nelson, Princes Court, Buchanan Street. All volumes carry the bookplate of the Barony Association's Library.

Council minutes

These include the minutes of statutory meetings of the Council and the Association, as well as the minutes of Ordinary and Executive Committee meetings. From 1968-1969 onwards, Finance Committee minutes and annual accounts are also included.
