MS copy made by John Anderson, Glasgow College, 1 October 1760, of a catalogue of curisosities, 1703. Prefaced 'Copy of a small tattered book lent to me by the Reverend Mr. Peter Woodrow, Minister at Turbowtoun [ie Tarbolton], which he says is a catalogue of the curiosities collected by his father the Minister of Eastwood'. Lists natural history objects, fossils and antiquities.

On the verso is a draft class ticket by John Anderson to James Caldwell for the latter's work in the Hebrew class.

The merk was a unit of Scots currency.

Mentions Mr. Greard, Mr. Liard, Mr. Herbette, Mr. Duclaux, Mr. Friedel, and Professor Wilson. Dated 12th and 13th July 1901. 2 copies.

Announces a meeting at The Merchant Company’s Hall on the 4th of October 1905 to discuss the formation of an association to promote the reform of the Scottish education system through appropriate legislation. Patrick Geddes’ notes on the back of the letter.

1. Letter from W.R. Gourlay, Private Secretary to the Governor of Bengal, Government House, Dacca, to Patrick Geddes.
   Informs Patrick Geddes that John G. Cumming would like to speak to him before granting permission to visit the Bengali rioters in jail. Gives Geddes Mr. Cumming’s address so he could call on him. Encloses a copy of his letter to Mr. Cumming [extant].

Refers to Patrick Geddes's proposal to speak to some of the Bengali rioters who had been imprisoned to persuade them that the remedy to the state's problems lies not in attacking the government but in effective social work. Also includes Patrick Geddes’ handwritten notes on the following correspondence on the topic, ending with a reply from 19 October in which permission to speak to the men is denied.

Forwards a questionnaire on the university education system in Calcutta issued by the Calcutta University Commission [extant] and asks Patrick Geddes to offer his views and send his replies by 15 December. Encloses a copy of the Resolution of the Government of India [extant].

Encloses a circular letter [extant] at the request of the Committee for Sir Asutosh Mookerjee Silver Jubilee Commemoration. Asks Patrick Geddes to contribute with an article for the volume to be issued in connection to the Commemoration.
