John Duncan describes his daily life on the island. Refuses Patrick Geddes’ request to lecture because he is averse to it. Duncan is however happy to contribute with practical work. Tells Geddes of his idea of organising an art community in the West Highlands for the cultivation of Celtic art. Mentions John Dewey and Henry Beveridge.

Asks Patrick Geddes whether he could contribute in any way possible to the organisation of the Chelsea Historical Pageant. J. harry Irvine informs Geddes their main concern is finding men of all ages to play parts of the crowd. Encloses a booklet and other documents related to the pageant [not extant].

Promotes the 'Guild of Yeomen', a movement he is organising. Would like to know if Patrick Geddes would like to be part of the General Council. Requests detailed information on the curriculum, staff, syllabus and expenses of primary and secondary schools, especially those concerned with Nature Study, from countries such as America, Switzerland, France, Germany, Denmark and Great Britain. Asks Patrick Geddes to send him a full report of papers which will be discussed at a meeting on Education in London in July later that year. Asks Geddes for a bibliography on Evolution, Sociology and Biology. Wishes to take lessons from Geddes on those subjects when Geddes is next in India. Mentions Anna Geddes and Miss Campbell Noble.
