Collection of fictional works in which the city of Glasgow is an integral element or theme. First editions are present where available. The collection offers researchers the opportunity to consider the variety of historical and literary approaches used to depict Glasgow.

Collection of books printed before 1840 transferred from main library stock. Also includes later special material such as first editions, limited editions, vulnerable plates and fine bindings.

Collection of rare books and material that had previously been part of the working collection of Jordanhill’s antecedent institutions: Glasgow Provincial Training College (1907-1959), Glasgow Church of Scotland Training College (1845-1907) or Glasgow Free Church Training College (1845-1907).

It contains mainly 19th and 20th century materials for primary and secondary level education, including: books covering tuition of reading, writing and arithmetic; children’s picture books; textbooks; other educational material; and reports on education in Scotland.

Collection of material on the history and description of Glasgow, industrial archaeology in the West of Scotland, Scottish topography and travel history. Also includes a collection of ephemera, notes and articles.

Collection of books originally part of the reference library at the Scottish Hotel School. The collection is made up of two components:

• The Scottish Hotel School antiquarian collection comprising over 200 books on cookery dating mostly from 1776 to the 1940s. It includes 18th century Scottish cookery books, works by Mrs Beeton and other popular writers and books by 19th century French chefs such as Alexis Soyer.

• The Scottish Hotel School cookery collection comprising over 700 books on cookery and wine, dating from 1885 to 2000 but primarily 20th century.

Collection of texts and conference proceedings on food science.

Copies of parts of the corporate archive of Turner & Newall, one of the world's leading asbestos manufacturers. The records copied date back to the 1920s. The copies were owned by Clydeside Action on Asbestos and used as a research resource.

These copies are significant since the original Turner & Newall archives are not accessible. The only time that the company granted access to its archives was during the legal proceedings initiated by Chase Manhattan Bank against Turner & Newall in 1987 when these copies were made. The copies of the archives remain the only primary evidence of Turner & Newall's activities.

Contents include board minutes and correspondence and papers relating to: the health risks of asbestos; asbestos industry regulations; the company's medical arrangements; employees with asbestos-related disease; the company's relations with the media; the company's submissions to parliamentary select committees; Chase Manhattan Bank vs. Turner & Newall trial documents; company histories.

Oral history project, conducted in May - September 2018 by Rory Stride, with women formerly employed at James Templeton & Co., carpet manufacturers, between c. 1960 and 1981. A total of six women were interviewed. The interviews last approximately between 45 minutes and 1 hour 15 minutes and were conducted at a variety of places across Scotland. The interview questions were semi-structured and largely directed by the responses of the participants.

The interviews focus on the women’s working lives and their first experiences of employment after secondary school but specifically exploring their experience of work at James Templeton & Co., the preeminent carpet manufacturers in Glasgow during the 1960s and 1970s. The company had seven factories, located in the east end and southside of Glasgow with the company’s Crown Street factory being the last to close in early 1981 when Templeton Carpets amalgamated with Stoddard Carpets. Topics discussed include trade unions, working conditions, gender divisions in labour, staff camaraderie, management and staff relationships, and periods of redundancy, unemployment and re-employment after leaving James Templeton & Co. The interviews also cover the women's feelings and opinions regarding the gentrification and redevelopment of the former headquarters and factory of James Templeton & Co. located at Templeton Street on the north eastern edge of Glasgow Green.

The collection comprises primarily research reports written by Keith Brown, documenting his career at W. Greenwell & Co. during the 1970s and 1980s then at Morgan Stanley from 1988 until 1999.

The collection includes:

• W. Greenwell & Co (later Greenwell Montagu and Greenwell Montagu Research) research reports and analysis, 1970-1987.
• Morgan Stanley research reports and analysis, 1988-1999.
• Speeches and presentations made by Brown throughout the world to conferences, bank management and investors on the UK, European and international banking industry.
• Written notes from meetings with management. Unpublished.

Collection of miscellaneous and mostly non-technical writings about John Logie Baird, television pioneer, written and/or compiled by his son, Malcolm Baird. Some of the pieces have been published. The material forms a supplement to Malcolm Baird's more concise technical memoirs entitled “From the White Suit to the Hard Hat”.
