BBC 4 Michael Frayn appeal

Correspondence and papers re the OEDA BBC 4 radio appeal, 14 March 2004. The appeal was presented by playwright and novelist Michael Frayn, whose sister had died of mesothelioma. After deduction of BBC costs, donations totalled £ 7210.

There were extensive records of donations including photocopies of all VISA card transactions and cheques received. These have been disposed of in line with the appraisal policy.

BBC 'Watchdog', 8 March 1999

Correspondence and papers re BBC 'Watchdog' programme on asbestos, broadcast 8 March 1999. The bulk of the file is audience response.

Later Nancy Tait observed that 'Not many of the calls following the Watchdog programme were from people who needed OEDA', concluding that she recently found 'that if OEDA is mentioned at all, especially by the media, we are overwhelmed' (letter to Colin Ettinger, 25 August 1999).
