The majority of the material was assembled 1980-1984, both as a resource for creating SPAID's information displays and as a resource for answering inquiries about specific asbestos-containing products and asbestos-free substitutes. The displays were used as part of the SPAID stand at conferences and similar occasions.

Original housing of some of the material suggests that SPAID placement student Eleni Michael gathered a significant portion of the brochures.
