SPAID latency study, 1985-1987

Chiefly papers re a statistical project 'First asbestos exposure to onset of mesothelioma'. This analysed 100 SPAID mesothelioma cases with a view to discovering information on latency periods.

Includes

  • manuscript notes on each case identifying the individual by name
  • table detailing name, age, dates of first inquiry, birth, death, and first symptoms, as well as source and dates of exposure, and the latency period
  • block graphs based on 5 year intervals
  • correspondence with Dr R Rudd on the findings and on Dr Kevin Browne’s work on asbestos-related mesothelioma
  • copy of soft-bound conference programme, annotated, with list of participants

The meeting took place at the Royal Institute of British Architects and the National Federation of Building Trade Employers (NFBTE) Cavendish Conference Centre. Nancy Tait and two students on placement with SPAID (Eleni Michael and M Routhorn) attended.

Correspondence (including telephone memoranda) and papers re OEDA fundraising appeal, 2003 (and onwards). Includes exchanges with journalist Julie Burchill and copies of her articles on OEDA loosing its core funding.

Contained a 82pp address list of individuals to whom personal injury lawyer Caroline Pinfold wrote in support of the OEDA funding appeal. This has been disposed of in line with our appraisal policy.
