On the verso is a draft class ticket by John Anderson to James Caldwell for the latter's work in the Hebrew class.

The merk was a unit of Scots currency.

First title in manuscript, c 1757-1758, second title printed, 1760. MS note inside volume states that this was probably Anderson's first course of lectures as Professor of Natural Philosophy.

This series is part of Patrick Geddes’ large collection of maps, plans, photographs, prints and drawings of countries and regions around the world. Much of this collection was part of Geddes' Cities and Town Planning Exhibition.

Detailed accounts for shoemaker's work by Macintosh and Murdoch, 1769; list of books bound and repaired by Robert Gemmill, 1773, and bottles of port and Madeira; a promissory note for £1 from William Ross, 1767; receipt for £11-13/- paid to Jean Baine on behalf of Anderson's brother in Boston, 1759.

MS copy made by John Anderson, Glasgow College, 1 October 1760, of a catalogue of curisosities, 1703. Prefaced 'Copy of a small tattered book lent to me by the Reverend Mr. Peter Woodrow, Minister at Turbowtoun [ie Tarbolton], which he says is a catalogue of the curiosities collected by his father the Minister of Eastwood'. Lists natural history objects, fossils and antiquities.

The volumes list the apparatus required for each experiment, which Anderson's laboratory assistant or 'operator' would be expected to set out for him. One volume (MS 30.4) has also been used for notes on astronomy.
