Outlines Patrick Geddes's proposal that services of the International Association for the Advancement of Science, Arts and Education be utilised in the collation of information for the Carnegie Trust. Advocates for Mr. Perwani to continue his work as Assistant Professor of Sociology in the place of Mr. K. Natarajan. Refers to the amendment by Mr. D.G. Dalvi to Mr. K. Natarajan’s motion.

Patrick Geddes regrets the low attendance rate and small financial gains of a recent course of the University Extension Scheme organised by himself. Discusses the reasons for this and hopes the situation will improve.

Encloses a copy letter [extant] he has sent to Maurice Paterson.

   Encloses a letter addressed to John Struthers with the same date [extant]. Would like to discuss the Nature Study courses. Mentions the development of the Outlook Tower as a centre for Nature Study.

Explains he did not wish to criticise him and regrets having caused this impression. Mentions John Struthers. Wishes to meet and discuss his ideas regarding courses for teachers.

Patrick Geddes expresses his concern regarding the rise of arrears. Geddes doesn't believe it is necessary for him to attend the meeting of the Town and Gown Association, and will send a proxy. Discusses the Town and Gown accounts, Crosby Hall and the state of the accounts. Mentions Sir William Dunn, Miss Jane Hay, Sir William Collins and Lord Rosebery.

Asks Professor Alexander Crum Brown to approve and extend a list of names suggested by Mr. Auldjo Jamieson, Baillie Pollard and himself to receive invitations for the meeting to be held that Friday, 27 January 1899. Asks for Crum Brown’s approval of the invitations.

Informs John Ross that Raymond Unwin and Thomas Adam showed interest in Charles Robert Ashbee’s Universities and Colleges Exhibition. Mentions the difficulty indicated by John Lea and encloses a copy of Lea’s letter. Believes a collaboration between the ‘Cities and Town Planning’ and Charles Robert Ashbee’s Exhibition would be beneficial. Indicates his own initial plan of the Exhibition could be adjusted in the event of such a collaboration. Encloses copy of letter to Ashbee [extant].

Patrick Geddes advocates the need for strong protest against the destruction of the University of Louvain by German forces. Geddes argues for the joint international effort of universities from various countries and encourages the Earl of Aberdeen to use the power of his status to this effect.

Discusses the Congress of Universities at Oxford and supports a collaboration between University and City as proposed by Dr. Mackichan’s in his report.
