Ross believes that Patrick Geddes 'will have to be very careful about launching the Masque of Learning here' due to difficulties in making things known in the city without vast funding. Mention of J. Ross also suggests that 'synthetic ideas' of Patrick Geddes's should be expressed in concrete symbols and 'not by Diagrams on plane surfaces'.
