Archival history

The plans were found in a fireproof store in the Royal College building in April 1978. A note on the wrapping stated 'lent by W.W. Blackie'. This was the Glasgow publisher Walter W. Blackie, the owner of Hill House. Blackie was also a governor of the Glasgow and West of Scotland Technical College, an antecedent of the University of Strathclyde.

Six of the draft plans appear to be by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, but are not signed. The office address is given as 140 Bath Street, Glasgow.
