History
Professor Callum G. Brown is a social and cultural historian with special research interests in the social and cultural history of humanism, atheism and secularisation, and the history of community ritual. He was the Director of the Scottish Oral History Centre at the University of Strathclyde with subsequent positions at the Universities of Dundee and Glasgow. His publications include the book 'Up-helly-aa: Custom, Culture and Community in Shetland' (1998).
