Biographical history

Main was assistant lecturer in psychology at the University of Strathclyde, 1966-1972, He was seconded to the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals, 1972-1976, then adviser on educational methods at the Centre for Educational Practice at the University, 1976-1986. He was the Honorary President of the Strathclyde Students' Association, 1973-1978. He later became director of education services and teaching resources at Murdoch University, Western Australia.
