The Accommodation Sub-Committee was established in March 1969 as a working party of the Academic Planning Committee with the remit of examining the accommodation available to University departments. In October 1981, it was adopted by the Joint Policy Committee. In August 1982, the Sub-Committee was discontinued and replaced by a new Accommodation Sub-Committee with an amended compostition and remit. Its new remit was to be responsible to the Estates and Buildings Committee for the detailed allocation of accommodation and to advise the Estates and Buildings Committee on the outline growth plan and the financial requirements of physical planning.
In 1978, the Development Committee was replaced by the Estates and Buildings Committee.
The Staff Committee (General) was established in September 1974 to consider and make recommendations to the Staff Policy Committee on matters of policy relating to the employment of staff other than academic and related staff. Also to make decisions on the establishment, appointment, conditions of employment and training of staff other than academic and related staff.
In October 1974, it changed its name to the Staff Committee (Non-Teaching).
The Staff Committee (Academic) was established in 1974 to consider and make recommendations to the Staff Policy Committee on matters of policy relating to the employment of academic and related staff. Also to make decisions on the establishment, the appointment and the conditions of employment of academic and related staff.
In 1985, it changed its name to the Committee on Academic Resources and Appointment Proceedings.
The Staff Policy Committee was responsible to Court for the establishment, promotion, conditions of employment and appointment of all University employees.
The Centre for Academic Practice offered advice, resources, individual consultation and courses aimed at helping undergraduate and postgraduate students develop confidence and competence in managing academic workload and enhancing learning, research and communication skills. The Centre complemented the work of academic departments. In 2005, it changed its name to the Centre for Academic Practice and Learning Enhancement.
