      History

      The post of Music Organiser was created in 1980. In 1985 the name of the post was changed to Director of Music. The post was responsible for the direction of a wide range of student and staff choirs, orchestras and ensembles, together with teaching and the promotion of a professional concert series at the University. The post was held by Alan Tavener. In 2012, the post was discontinued.
