Geschiedenis
The Young Chair of Technical Chemistry was established in 1870 as the result of a munificent gift by James 'Paraffin' Young (1811-1883). In 1957 the Department of Technical Chemistry was renamed the Department of Chemical Technology. In 1964 the departments of Chemical Technology and Chemistry merged to form the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry.
