Biographical history
Keith Brown was a leading investment analyst of the banking industry. Brown joined W. Greenwell & Co. as a clerk in 1962 and became a partner in 1977. He was appointed Head of Research in 1985, Director of the Institutional Equity Company and finally Managing Director in 1987.
In February 1988 Keith Brown joined Morgan Stanley as Managing Director, specialising on analysis of European banks and financial services companies. He developed a European research capability which rapidly became recognised as the leading bank investment research product of the time.
In 1995 Keith Brown took a senior role in investment banking at Morgan Stanley to lead teams involving mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and privatisations in European banks.
Keith Brown was a diploma Member of the Securities Institute and an Associate of the Institute of Investment Management and Research. He has been a frequent television and radio broadcaster on banking topics. Brown retired in 1999 after 38 years in stockbroking and investment banking.

The collection comprises primarily research reports written by Keith Brown, documenting his career at W. Greenwell & Co. during the 1970s and 1980s then at Morgan Stanley from 1988 until 1999.
The collection includes:

- Morgan Stanley research reports and analysis, 1988-1999.
- Speeches and presentations made by Brown throughout the world to conferences, bank management and investors on the UK, European and international banking industry.
