Includes 'Minute of visit to Turner & Newall, Rochdale, 20 December 1969' and papers re an asbestos conference organised by the Asbestosis Research Council (ARC), London, 18 June 1969.
The reason given for visiting Turner & Newall was: "WSL had been asked to look into the problems of monitoring working environments in Mintech [Ministry of Technology] establishments in regard to airborne asbestos; having in mind the requirements of the draft Regulations on Asbestos. Furthermore, the A.P. [Air Pollution] Division of WSL were concerned in monitoring environments other than factories. Another interest was in regard to respirators and finally he [M J Sanders] himself had an interest in the disposal of asbestos waste representing a concern of the Mintech Safety Officers."
