    Town and Gown Association business. Encloses letter between himself and Messrs. Whitson and Methuen that he states is 'a painful letter and one that demands real and calm consideration'. T[homas] B. Whitson he finds 'a little too much for me, illegal, too obvious all the time'.

Further details of Macdonald's dissatisfaction with Thomas B. Whitson's handling of Town and Gown Association Affairs: 'largely thanks to yourself Whitson has lost just perspective, has an exaggerated (indeed insolent) importance in his own eyes'. Previous problems regarding Rhodes Scholars (mentioning Sir Alfred Ewing and [ ] Gilmour) for which he blames Whitson and urges that Whitson and John Ross should be sacked. Financial difficulties regarding purchase of the contents of the Outlook Tower.
