Refers to Patrick Geddes' inspection and report on Abbotsholme School. Reddie requests Geddes to return the report with corrections so that it may be published in 'Magazine Abbotsholme'. Reviews the corrections suggested by Reddie particularly in relation to the naming of individuals in the report, and Geddes' 'encyclopaedic and indefinite' style. Encloses copy letter from Douglas T. Thring to Cecil Reddie, 22 September 1904 which provides a reaction, discussion, review and suggestions for circulation in relation to Geddes' report. Mention of Duke of Buccleugh, Spencer Wilkinson, Victor Cavendish, Marquis of Lansdowne, Mr Bowen, Mr Zair, Herr Neumann, and Grunder.

Acknowledges receipt of Geddes' letter of 4 June 1901 and of Harold Hare's pamphlet 'The Necessity for a Revolution in Education'.
Discusses theories of education including but not exclusive to: the correlation between the educational theories of himself and Patrick Geddes; outlines admiration and criticisms of Geddes; criticises studies of isolated children; outlines the role of organisation and discipline in creating unity, harmony, and leadership in the context of English society and class structures; considers the preponderating influence of the child and parent against that of the school community and the educator. Provides a title for a lecture to be given at Glasgow which will discuss the work and methods of Abbotsholme School.

Outlines arrangements he has made for a meeting of the school council for the purpose of reading Geddes' criticisms following an inspection of Abbotsholme School.
