Part of the Children's University Scotland project (funded by the ScottishPower Foundation), the Glasgow Children's University was established in June 2013 by the University of Strathclyde and Glasgow City Council. Its aims were to raise children's aspirations, boost achievement, and encourage learning. Participating children from secondary schools in Glasgow each complete a 'Passport to Learning', enabling them to collect credits for completing various learning activities in their own time. The inaugural graduation ceremony for successful participants took place in the Barony Hall, University of Strathclyde, on 24 April 2014.
