The Glasgow Research Partnership in Engineering is a major programme of investment in collaborative research involving the Scottish Funding Council and the Universities of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Paisley, and Glasgow Caledonian University. The original Director of the Partnership, appointed in 2006, is Professor Sir Jim McDonald of the University of Strathclyde. The Research Partnership forms a regional centre that enables focused access to large-scale, high quality experimental facilities representing major capital investment in equipment such as hydrodynamics tanks, structural test facilities and nano-fabrication units not duplicated in each University.
