The Faculty of Education was established in 1993, following the merger of Jordanhill College of Education with the University of Strathclyde. In 2010, the Faculty merged with the Faculty of Law, Arts and Social Sciences to become the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The Alumni Relations Office was created in 1986 to form a common boundary between the students, staff and alumni of the University of Strathclyde, the Royal College of Science and Technology, the Royal Technical College and the Scottish College of Commerce.

In 1994, it was replaced by the Alumni Affairs and Development Office.
